Hi, I'm Sasha Larson

Therapist in Gainesville, Florida

(She/her)

I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida (MH#21851). I started Plum Therapy and Wellness to create a healing space focused on compassionate, quality mental health care. I earned my Masters and Specialist degrees in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida. I also completed my Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Florida. (Go Gators!) Throughout my clinical experience, I've worked with clients in the UF Health Psychology clinic, UF Psychiatric Hospital, and group private practice setting.

I feel so lucky that I am able to do something I love! I am passionate about working with teens, college students, and adults. I specialize in helping individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, life transitions, identity exploration, and life stressors. I also enjoy working with clients in the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.

Therapy with Me

If you're here, you may be feeling overwhelmed by life. Your mind is racing with a million thoughts, and you never have a chance to just relax and be present. You find it difficult balancing your workload, hobbies, and social life, while still making time for yourself. You feel like no matter what you do, you’re still not good enough. It’s gotten to the point where you know you can’t keep living like this and something needs to change. If you’re an anxious, self-critical teen or adult seeking support in reducing anxiety, improving your relationship with yourself, and experiencing growth, then you’re in the right place.

My therapeutic approach is individualized and integrative. I recognize that being a therapist is both an honor and a privilege, so I value making sure that you feel safe, secure, and comfortable with me. My goal is for you to recognize your strengths and feel empowered to create positive change. I will help you to be more compassionate towards yourself and challenge your inner critic. Our sessions can be a mixture of recent life stressors, processing past experiences, and learning new skills to cope with present life. Together, we will explore how your anxiety and painful life experiences affect you today. We will process what you've been through and find new ways to cope with life's challenges, so you can feel empowered, more self-aware and grounded.

I often utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based, and mindfulness techniques. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help people heal from painful/traumatic experiences and improve self-esteem. In addition, I have specialized training in ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) for OCD.
